Park Narrative Summary & Directions

Go to the Virginia Department of Forestry, 900 Resources Drive #800, Charlottesville, VA 22903. Drive around the building to the State Police side. On the forest side of the parking area see a picnic table, a kiosk for the Rivanna Trail Foundation, (RTF), and a trailhead. Take this trail and at a “T”, bear to the LEFT! This leads down to Morey Creek Trail. This RTF trail winds through a magical forest with tree IDs and educational signs about forest life. In some ways, this trail offers better Nature Play potential than the Morey Creek Trail from which there are few places to view the creek and is overgrown on both sides with invasives.
